The “All About Generative AI Expo” (Generative AI Nande-mo Tenjikai) is Japan’s largest event for independent developers and creators working with generative AI. It brings together independently developed generative AI projects and artworks, creating a space where participants and visitors can exchange ideas about technology, creativity, and expression. This fifth edition will be the largest yet, with approximately 190 creators and developers expected to participate.

Unlike corporate or business-focused conventions, the event is centered on individual passion, experimentation, and creative exchange.

About the Exhibition

Through generative AI-driven video expression, character art, and narrative-based creative practice, aratama 璞 has continued to explore themes such as memory, emotion, and embodiment, while investigating where technology meets human feeling and perception. This exhibition will offer a firsthand look at works and creative experiments that emerge directly from that ongoing practice.

Details about the specific works on display and any materials or items available at the booth will be announced at a later date on this website and through official social media channels.

Taking place on the final day of Golden Week in Japan, the event offers a valuable opportunity to talk in person about practical generative AI workflows and the creative process. If you attend, please feel free to stop by the booth. I would be delighted to meet you there.

AI artist aratama 璞 announces the official entry of their original short film, Ragna Astraea: Twin Shells, into the “AI Film Festival Japan — Short Film Competition 2026,” an international open call dedicated to cinematic works created with generative AI.

An International Open Call Set 100 Years Ahead

This competition is an international open call organized as a collaborative initiative between AI Film Festival Japan (AIFJ) and “LOOP 2126 ∞prelude∞.”
Under the theme “A world 100 years from now (the year 2126),” the festival seeks forward-thinking, AI-driven short films from creators around the globe.

Exceptional works that pass the initial screening will be showcased on the large outdoor screens of Tokyu Kabukicho Tower, as well as in public spaces and stages throughout Shinjuku’s Kabukicho district. Furthermore, works recognized for their high artistic merit will automatically qualify as official entries for the main “AI Film Festival Japan 2026” competition in November 2026.
The festival offers a platform for bringing AI-driven films from Japan to a wider international audience.

About Ragna Astraea: Twin Shells

The core concept of this film stems from a single question: what remains after humanity is gone? Even in a world devoid of people, there is a compelling possibility that memories, duties, and fragments of emotion might endure in alternate forms.
The story follows two autonomous robots locked in endless combat dictated by a forgotten mission. However, as shattered memories of their human past resurface, the underlying meaning of their battle gradually shifts. Rather than focusing solely on destruction and conflict, the narrative explores how a new future might emerge from the broken, the imperfect, and the half-forgotten.

Ragna Astraea: Twin Shells is a sci-fi short film created using generative AI. Centered on character designs that fuse mechanical anatomy with mythological motifs, it builds a cinematic atmosphere where profound silence and visceral tension coexist.
Through themes of a desolate Earth, fragmented memories, and two confronting entities, the film captures the lingering echoes of war and the possibility of renewal. By carefully layering the aesthetics of light, skies, weaponry, and physical form, the visual style achieves a delicate balance between apocalyptic finality and deep tranquility.

Artist Statement: aratama 璞

Ragna Astraea: Twin Shells is an original sci-fi short film created with generative AI. I focused on maintaining visual cohesion and a dense, self-contained world, while using the two central beings to evoke impermanence, loss, and emotional emptiness. With this entry, I’m grateful to be able to present the project as a completed cinematic work.

Kokkin no Me explores the theme of “light emerging from within” through the contrast of black and gold.

Black is not treated as mere darkness, but as a vessel that contains light.
Gold represents not only material brilliance, but also the spiritual luminosity residing at the core of existence.

In stillness, light emerges from within.
Black is not an end, but a vessel of beginning.

This work was created as an attempt to visualize energy radiating quietly from the center of being. Though digital in medium, it carries nuanced textures reminiscent of lacquer and gold leaf, evoking a subtle craft sensibility within a contemporary visual language.

During the creation of this piece, multiple visual studies were conducted before arriving at the final black-and-gold composition.

A gold-dominant variation known as Gold Form played a crucial role in exploring materiality and surface luminosity. The fully gold configuration functioned as an experimental phase, testing intensity of light, gradation of reflection, and the perceived weight of presence.

Through this process of examination, the composition ultimately converged toward “black as vessel,” allowing the radiance to stand out more distinctly. Thus, Kokkin no Me reached its final form.

Gold Form is presented here as an important research stage within the work’s development.

About the YōuMo Art Collection

The YōuMo Art Collection is a series that traverses cuteness and mysticism, symbolism and presence.

YōuMo was created as a presence that gently stays close to the emotions of those who encounter it. It values non-verbal communication, offering a quiet sense of reassurance simply by being there.

For children, YōuMo serves as a small symbol of safety.
For adults, it becomes a space to pause and restore emotional balance.

Centered on the concept of presence itself, the series continuously examines gaze, texture, and the structure of light while evolving as an artistic IP.

YōuMo will continue to evolve quietly.

This international film challenge evaluates narrative strength, creativity, and innovative use of AI tools, and drew participation from AI filmmakers and visual storytellers worldwide.
A key characteristic of the contest is its emphasis on narrative-driven works that go beyond pure visual spectacle—leveraging Dreamina’s strengths such as multi-frame coherence and character/style consistency.

For this competition, aratama 璞 entered the cinematic music video “Spiraling Anger – 怒螺旋.” The film was highly regarded for both its expressive depth and narrative quality, and was selected as one of the Top 3 winning films.

About the Award-Winning Film

Spiraling Anger – 怒螺旋

(aratama 璞 / Escape AI × Dreamina Contest Film)

This cinematic music video explores the structural nature of anger—how it circulates, accumulates, and repeats within human society.

Rather than depicting war or violence directly, the film evokes anger as an atmosphere: a sense of impending collision expressed through rhythm, tension, and perceptual distortion.
Thoughts repeating without a clear cause, emotions amplified without an identifiable origin, and systems that keep moving even after they are forgotten—
anger is perceived not as a single event, but as acceleration, dissonance, and unresolved pressure.

The audiovisual perspective expands from an intimate, bodily scale to nature, the Earth, the cosmos, and ultimately a worldview in which all things coexist.
The imagery of plants multiplying abnormally—seemingly overtaking traces of conflict—serves as a symbolic suggestion that destruction and regeneration can coexist beyond human intention.

Music and visuals are tightly synchronized, with rhythm itself functioning as the engine of the narrative.
Minimal, repeating lyrics operate as an AI-mediated form of language that extends beyond conventional semantics, inviting meaning to be completed within the viewer.
Tracing the looping thought patterns that sustain anger, the work ultimately leaves a single question behind.

—This film quietly sings of “coexistence.”

Context Within the Contest

“Spiraling Anger – 怒螺旋” responds to the theme “BRAVE NEW BEGINNINGS” by presenting:

regeneration beyond conflict

transformation from repetitive emotional structures

a worldview where destruction and renewal coexist

as an integrated experience in which narrative, visuals, and music operate as one.

While incorporating scene construction and visual coherence enabled by Dreamina, the film positions AI imagery as a means to bring the story into being—aiming for an immersive narrative experience rather than a purely technical showcase.

AI artist aratama 璞 has been confirmed to make his first VJ appearance using AI-generated works at the immersive audiovisual event “Hypergeek #14,” taking place on Sunday, February 1, 2026. The performance will be held at TUNNEL TOKYO, an immersive space equipped with a massive 3×20m LED screen.

This appearance marks aratama 璞’s first VJ-style performance, expanding his ongoing AI-based creative production and research into a live, spatial context.

An Experimental Platform Where Art, Technology, and Community Intersect as Equals

Hypergeek is an audiovisual event series built around the concept of “agitation and fermentation,” where art, technology, and community intersect without hierarchy.

Now in its 14th edition, the event will take place at TUNNEL TOKYO, an immersive creative venue featuring large-scale LED visuals and spatial audio.

At Hypergeek, there is no concept of “guests.”
The performers on stage, the participants on the floor, and the engineers who build and operate the system—
everyone present functions as an equal material composing the space itself.

Hackmarkt × aratama 璞 A First Challenge in AI-Based VJ Performance

At this event, aratama 璞 will perform under a collaborative format with Hackmarkt.

For this performance, he will utilize a body of AI-generated works developed through ongoing production and research, stepping onto the stage as a VJ for the first time.

By synchronizing generative AI visuals with DJ and live sets and deploying them within the physical scale of a 3×20m LED screen, the performance presents a real-time visual experience where AI systems and human sensibility intersect.

For aratama 璞, whose practice is guided by a vision of supersensory evolution through human augmentation, this performance represents a critical step in expanding AI expression from “works” into “situations” and “spaces.”

About the Work

Spiraling Anger – 怒螺旋
(aratama 璞 / Escape AI × Dreamina Contest Film)

This work is a cinematic music video that takes as its central theme the structure through which anger circulates, accumulates, and repeats within human society.

Rather than depicting war or violence directly, the film evokes anger as a sense of impending conflict through atmosphere, rhythm, and subtle distortions of perception.
Thoughts that repeat after losing their cause, emotions that intensify without a clear origin, and structures that continue to move even after being forgotten—
anger is perceived not as a distinct event, but as tension, acceleration, and dissonance.

The visuals and music expand the viewer’s perspective from bodily, intimate sensations to broader scales of nature, the Earth, the cosmos, and a worldview in which all things coexist.
Images of plants proliferating uncontrollably over traces of conflict symbolically suggest that destruction and regeneration coexist beyond human intention.

Music and image are tightly synchronized, with rhythm itself functioning as the driving force of the narrative.
The minimal, repeated lyrics transcend linguistic boundaries through AI-mediated expression, tracing the loops of thought that sustain anger while allowing meaning to be completed within the viewer, and ultimately leaving a single unresolved question.

—Quietly, this work sings of “coexistence.”

Position Within the Contest

“Spiraling Anger – 怒螺旋” responds to the theme of Escape × Dreamina’s “Brave New Beginnings” by presenting “rebirth beyond confrontation” and “new beginnings emerging from repetitive emotional structures” as an integrated experience of narrative, visuals, and music.

While incorporating scene construction and visual coherence enabled by Dreamina, the work positions AI-generated imagery strictly as a means of bringing the narrative into being, aiming for a film experience that goes beyond a mere visual showcase.
